Public Speaking

Anthony Gill is known widely as an engaging and entertaining public speaker that can address a wide range of audiences, from academic to the general public. He was the recipient of the University of Washington's Distinguished Teaching Award in 1999 and has given talks at places such as Harvard, Princeton, U of Chicago, Georgetown, Duke, Baylor, U of Michigan, Emory, Creighton, McGill, U of Toronto, and Koc University (Istanbul), among other places. He has also presented at the Mont Pelerin Society, the American Institute for Economic Research, and is a regular speaker at the Institute for Humane Studies.

With over thirty years of academic and public speaking he has a wide repertoire of topics including:

• Religious liberty
• Religious violence and terrorism
• Religion and politics
• A defense of tipping (gratuities) - a favorite talk
• The economics of gift giving - another favorite talk
• Civil society, cultural norms, and governance
• General political economy and public choice.

Anthony Gill has appeared on a number of podcasts, including twice on the popular EconTalk, and hosted his own podcast called Research on Religion for eight years with support from Baylor University's Institute for the Studies of Religion.
